Here is another song from the movie Fireproof. The words are so powerful. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. Blessings!
God Gave Me You

I just heard this song on the radio today and it caught my attention. It’s great to hear songs about staying with your spouse no matter what. No matter how bad things get we have to remain faithful to our husband or wife. Hope you enjoy this!
Clothes

When I heard this song my first reaction was to laugh. I mean, seriously, sometimes I look at girls who try and squeeze into tight clothes and the outcome is anything but flattering. But my second thought was, wow, it’s so sad that girls are buying into all these lies. They feel like they have to dress a certain way to be pretty. They buy the clothes that are advertised but get so discouraged when they look in the mirror and discover that they don’t look like the model. Sometimes, girls even hate themselves because they don’t look like the models they see every day. If there’s anyone feeling that way, I just want to let you know that you’re made by God and God doesn’t make mistakes. Everything God makes is beautiful. You are beautiful. You don’t have to look like a magazine. If you have a beautiful heart for God, it’ll shine through and everyone will be able to see how gorgeous you are.
But here’s another aspect to this song – girls, when we wear clothes that reveal too much of our bodies, we cause our brother’s in Christ to stumble. You may say, “Well, they should keep their eyes to themselves,” but we have to realize this is a big temptation for them. I Corinthians, chapter 8, has a lot to say about not putting a stumbling block in front of others. Even though something you do may not cause you to stumble, if it hinders another person it’s wrong. Girls, let’s be aware of the temptations our brothers in Christ face and not make them face temptation by the way we dress. Guys, this goes for you as well. We talk a lot about girls dressing immodestly, but guys can too. Please be aware that the way you dress (or undress – like going shirtless in certain situations) can be a stumbling to your sisters in Christ. There aren’t really any written rules on how to dress modestly. What’s modest and what’s not isn’t black and white. There’s a ton of gray area there. If there’s a question whether or not it’s modest, it’s probably a good idea not to go there.
* For the girls – A great way to determine if something is modest or not is the Modesty Survey. I highly recommend this!
Always Be True

As I listened to this song the other day, I thought it was really relevant to how marriages are supposed to be. It was originally written for the American soldiers in Iraq but I think it can be just as great for Christian soldiers and since a husband and wife are closest partners on the spiritual battlefield, this song fits wonderfully. Listen to the words. We’re supposed to be true to each other.
Definition of Love

As I was listening to the radio the other day, I heard this song by Brandon Heath. So many thoughts rushed through my head as I listened to it. Not only is this a beautiful description of God’s love for us, it also is a great definition of what love should be between a husband and wife. After all, the Bible often parallels Christ’s love for us with a husband and wife’s love. Listen to the words of this song and ask yourself, does the love you show meet this description? Are you being a reflection of Christ’s love? Love isn’t easy. Sometimes love hurts. But we are called to love one another. Start practicing how to love your future spouse by loving those around you. Love will be a huge factor in marriage. But what kind of love will you give your husband or wife?
Waiting on the Lord

Waiting. In today’s culture waiting is almost a foreign word. The world tries to tell us, the teens, that we shouldn’t have to wait. That we should get whatever we want whenever we want it. But the Bible tells us differently.
“ Wait on the Lord; be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!” Psalm 27: 14 (NIV)
“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40: 31 (NIV)
The song I posted here is from the movie Fireproof (an awesome movie about true love, by the way). Even though the song is associated with restoring a marriage, as I heard it on the radio today I discovered this song meant more. As young people, we need to wait on the Lord to bring us together with our future husband or wife. Yes, it’s hard to wait when the world tells us we shouldn’t have to. But we will wait because we know it’s right. And even though it might be painful, we need to worship God through it all. He’s painting the big picture. We can only see a part of it. Waiting on the Lord can teach us some of the most important lessons we will ever learn. Let’s commit to waiting on Him. He will bring the right husband or wife along when it’s time.
Let me challenge you, my fellow teens, to take this song as our battle cry. Waiting is hard. It can even seem like a battle. But with the Lord’s help we can do it. Listen to this song whenever you find it hard to wait for your future spouse. Take the chorus to heart: While I’m waiting I will serve You, while I’m waiting I will worship. Don’t forget to serve the Lord and worship Him. Use your single years for His glory.

Girls, this post is mostly directed to you but I hope the guys pay attention as well. Maybe you’ve heard of Barlow Girls, maybe not. They’re three sisters using their musical talents for the Lord. I found this video about their stance on purity and wanted to share it.
Yes, it’s hard to stay pure, but the Lord has called us to live for Him not the world. These girls are a great example of young people who are keeping themselves pure for their future spouses. I hope you are encouraged as you watch this.
* Note: The last half focuses on purity, so just be patient and watch the whole thing. The whole message is great.
